Every aspect of my life influences my art. Even the most mundane activities, like driving to my studio in the early morning, ignite my creativity. I’ve come to realiise the importance of avoiding overthinking, as it can stifle the fluidity and freedom in my work. The pursuit of artistic freedom is akin to seeking the holy grail – a beautiful and elusive objective that constantly drives my creative endeavors. My artistic inspiration comes from a blend of influences, from the emotional rawness and mark-making of the Abstract Expressionists to the composition, light, and movement of the Renaissance era. Added to this are influences from contemporary culture and my own personal experiences. My aim is to infuse a classical sense into my work, while exploring new visual paths, ultimately embarking on an exploration of the very purpose of painting itself. When I create, I prefer to pose questions rather than provide clear answers or narrative pointers. The joy and satisfaction lie in this process of exploration, an ongoing search for something that may remain elusive. It becomes an artistic journey that has no final destination, and therein lies its beauty.
